Brown - Burning Blade clan or Bonechewer clan

Introduction
Brown is most well rounded faction of the Horde, your job is to push through left side of the map, mostly fighting against blue early on, and gradually having to also fight grey and green.
Your early and mid game is also most challenging out of entire Horde, since more often then not, you will have to fight alone against blue who will usually have support from Knights, Gilneas or Khedgar with very little overall AOE from your side.

Events
Faction events
  • Killing Troll Warlord between your starting point and blue's starting point - drops 2 tomes in addition to spawning for you an additional 18 units, including 4 units from tier 2 that you might use as elites for a while, this is also currently only way in game that you can go over food limit

    Troll 1.png (4.41 MiB) Viewed 85 times
  • Insurrection on the Homeworld - dungeon type event, where your heroes get teleported to separate zone and you receive 6 tier 3 units, and have to kill boss in there, after he is dead, your heroes automatically get teleported away back to your current base(either starting base or FOB), and you will receive hero unique for your clan, either Lantresor or Krun Spinebreaker at level of your currently strongest hero
  • Death of Dharl - You recieve Azuka Bladefury
  • Death of Hurkan -You recieve Skal the Trapper
Generic Horde events
  • Assailant of Azeorth - Your first hero that reaches level 6 will receive unique, undropable item

  • Black Moras Reinforcements - You receive Gorrum Stormfury at level 8, as well as single spawn worth of tier 2 units of your opposite clan if you are not at full food
  • Drenor Reinforcements - You receive Tagar Spinebreaker and Akatha Blazburn, as well as single spawn worth of units
  • FOB - you will receive FOB that will from this point on act as your main spawn after destruction of Northshire Abbey, Goldshire, Moonbrook, Landan's Watch and Westbrook Garrison

Brown - Paths

Paths
burning blade.png
burning blade.png (49.46 KiB) Viewed 84 times
Burning blade Clan
This path provides you with powerful, hero hunting skill set on the start, including 3 direct heals, and 2 single target stuns, in addition to your main hero, Dharl possessing both innate 12.50% chance to do 3.25x to all units , and blade that gives you +8 to damage and provide you with 20% for 45 dmg pulverize, letting you hunt heroes for big part of early and mid game, that is essential to do against blue who possess mostly support abilities.

As game progresses, your target should switch from heroes to units, as with level 8 you unlock some pretty powerful abilities, including very powerful Rain of fire and Shadow impact, that in combination can virtually all enemy units in AOE, letting you break through chokepoints with rather ease, and Dharl unlocking his ultimate ability means that from that point on, hes immune to being surrounded by enemy units, but still be careful of enemy hero squads, hes not THAT tanky.

Your clan abilities that your melee orcs units receive are Ky:Fire at level 1 of War Tactics, that is basically slow poison with 10% attack speed decrease and constant 2 damage per second, and Burning Blade at level 3 of War Tactics, giving you extra 12 damage every 12 seconds, basically providing you extra damage on first strike and extra damage over prolonged fight.

Due to how this path special abilities work, i advise getting War Tactics 1 ASAP for making casters useful and Ky:Fire for longer combat, and after that, focusing on getting War Gear and Siege upgrades

Bonechewer Clan
This path trades away early aiming potential of Burning blade, and instead focuses on pushing through enemy frontline as fast as possible by using a lot of early debuffs, summons and army buffs what is emphasized by your main hero, Hurkan, who possesses innate 20% for 45 damage pulverize and blade that gives him +8 damage and 15% chance to do 3.50x to all units.

As game progresses, your target should switch from units to heroes, because of fact that at level 8 you will unlock powerful stuns, including Forward, For the Horde that is strong impale spell and Shadow impact, what, alongside Hurkan's single target stun, will let you get total of 5,5 seconds worth of stun only with your starting heroes and level 8

Your clan abilities that your melee orcs units receive are Bones be with you at level 1 of War Tactics, that is in essence 5% damage reflection for them, and Cannibalism at level 3 of War Tactics, providing them with 15% life steal, in total making your units quite risky to fight over long period of time, since they will outlast most human units in 1vs1 situations, combined with your buffs making your formidable foe

Due to how this path special abilities work, i advise getting balanced upgrades, but striving to get to level 3 of War Tactics, to unlock full potential of your army

Brown - Early game

Early Game
First thing first, send out your spies, you want to have constant vision over Blue's gate in case that he got support or want to harass you, if that's the case, don't let him get Troll Warlord positioned between your and his base, if possible, chase him away back to the gate, wait for you to have close to full food, and then kill that Troll Warlord, in this way, you will will posses numerical advantage and few units you can use as elites.

It is possible that Gul'dan or Sythegore Arm will come to help you, but don't expect it, in any case, you have to punch through Blue's gate, kill Southwatch tower and garrison.

What might help you is placing ward as shown in this picture
wallward.png
wallward.png (3.54 MiB) Viewed 80 times
This will provide you with vision over gatehouse, letting you bombard it with catapults.

After you get through the gate, use your catapults to counter bombard enemy catapults, keep gate under your control and destroy tower with priority in this order.

After you dealt with tower and Blue has retreated, instead of focusing Southwatch Garrison, focus on killing Brightwood lumber mill left from tower, providing your team with extra resources and denying enemy his extra income.

After that's done, push to Westwatch, at this point, Gul'dan or Sythegore Arm should join up with you, but blue also should get support from Knights or Khedgar so be careful, what might help you is this little trick you can do, provided that you have at least Siege upgrade level 3 and Demolishers upgrade.

You place sentry like this
Westfall 3.png
Westfall 3.png (3.95 MiB) Viewed 80 times
This provides you with vision over Westwatch tower that you can then exploit by setting up your Demolishers next to wall like this
Westfall 4.png
Westfall 4.png (3.97 MiB) Viewed 80 times
Thanks to fact that Demolishers posses 1,3k range(might be changed in future patches) and tower 1,2k range, you are able to shot it from outside of its range, just be careful of enemy artillery or enemy rushes.

Once tower is dead, you might want to use your Demolishers to kill stone walls on the side to give yourself more ways to attack instead of just pushing through chokepoint and push through.

Remember, this is a team map, watch what your allies are currently doing and synchronize with them, you don't want to get bogged down, and even more then that, you don't want to get hit from back while pushing through Westwatch.

One of possible options you can do is to use Insurrection on the Homeworld event to get your heroes out of danger if you feel like you need to do it, don't worry, hero you get from this scales to level of your strongest hero, so worst thing that comes out of it is lack of that extra 1 hero, but it also means that rest of your heroes level up faster, so feel free to use it as OH SHIT button

Brown - Mid Game

Mid Game
Your mid game always starts same, you managed to push through Westwatch, if that's so, now fun part begins.

First order of business, kill Westwatch Garrison then Stables of the Brotherhood if you got support from other faction or push to Raven's Hill
Raven.png
Raven.png (4.1 MiB) Viewed 80 times
Depending on state of enemy troops, they might have established a chokepoint as shown by red box on picture, if that's so, just go around it through inner part of the base, more often then not, no one guards that part, depending on state of battle for Grand Hamlet that rest of forces in middle, enemy might either retreat or reinforce coming from east, if you manage to, block them, if not, wait for rest of your team to pillage Grand Hamlet while defending area where previously Garrison stood, then coordinate with them to push through.

If you manage to push through Raven Hill fast enough, you might be able to kill Kleven's Tower
Kleven's Tower.png
Kleven's Tower.png (4.08 MiB) Viewed 80 times
This is vital, since if you manage to kill it before they push through bridge, this opens up possible path for you to go directly to Moonbrook and Landan's Watch to then push to Westbrook Garrnison and Westridge, coming up directly behind Goldshire, making game much easier.

If Kleven's tower managed to blow up the bridge, that only leaves you one direction, north, you have to push through Goldshire with your allies and then push south to Moonbrook, i advise blowing up southern most set of walls with your Demolishers and pushing through there

Late Game
Moment that you receive your FOB, you know that you have entered late game, all that remains now is to push in to Stormwind.

But that also means that you can go back to your base and deal with some bosses
Hakkar.png
Hakkar.png (4.18 MiB) Viewed 80 times
Directly above your base, there are 3 bosses that you can deal with.
  • First one is Troll Warlord, similar to one that you fought before, but 5 levels higher, thus, much tankier, he drops 3 tomes that you can pick up
  • Next one is Jin'do the Hexxer, he wont drop anything, but his death will buff all of Horde casters with 50 extra mana, helpful during long conflict
  • Last is Hakkar himself, after Jin'do dies, it will take around 5 seconds, after that time, he will become hostile and you can kill him, he will drop 3 tomes, 2 bundles of Teak wood(something for Yellow, just pick it up like good teammate) and 2 special items
Destroyer.png
Destroyer.png (125.22 KiB) Viewed 80 times
Heart.png
Heart.png (102.46 KiB) Viewed 80 times
Both of this items will be helpful for your hero in surviving battle for Stormwind and pushing through chokes.
WARNING:As time goes by, Hakkar will drain Jin'do out of his stats, making him stronger as game progresses but Jin'do weaker, after 1 hour had passes since start of the game, Hakkar will kill Jin'do, making him permanently spell immune with very high stats.

After that's done, if you haven't used Insurrection on the Homeworld yet, i advise using it now, since extra hero will always be useful at this stage, not to mention that it will teleport your heroes directly back to FOB, so it spares you extra time you would need to spend on walking back.

Brown - Side notes

Side notes
Depending on Yellow, you might be forced to go back in case of Yellow's defeat, since after his defeat, Pink gets ability to either:
  • Remove southern barrier, and making path directly next to your main base, while also being provided base in location that Yellow previously owned, this might end very badly for you if Pink rushes your bases while you are at frontline, but more often then not, Pink will focus on getting all the bosses in his area first and then striking, in such case, rely on yellow forces to hold out as long as possible until you come back with your full might so you don't have to sit there entire time until Pink picks path
    vines.png
    vines.png (4.31 MiB) Viewed 80 times
  • Rebuild bridges, this will open up paths that might end up backstabbing your and your allies while you are sieging Westwatch, not only that but bridges are chokes, so it might be difficult to push through
    bridge 1.png
    bridge 1.png (4.28 MiB) Viewed 80 times
    bridge 2.png
    bridge 2.png (4.08 MiB) Viewed 80 times
  • War on the high sea, this will make him and Yellow fight with ships, depending on victor, either Yellow or Pink might get base behind enemy lines, in your case, if Pink wins, he gets base near northern most base of Orange, after that base dies, either by him retreating or one of your allies bombarding it, he will rebuild the bridges imminently, if that's the case, you can just rush his main base and finish him off, he shouldn't have many troops left

Really good guide, informative yet not overbearing and long.

I'd like if all guides could be like this.
